The two spouses are permanently in the state of warfare over Jayapangus. The unsettled quarrel ensues into an endless duel fight. | | |  | Act 5 A performer wearing a mask of Topeng Sidakarya resembling Dewi Danu’s mother, Bhatari Batur, comes forward in fury intervening them. Under Bhatari Batur’s spell, Jayapangus and Kang Cing Wi immediately turn their appearances into Jero Gede and Jero Luh, the male and female giant puppets named Barong Landung. | | |  | Act 6 The Barong Landung, the transformations of Jayapangus and his Chinese mistress Kang Cing Wi, though previously being punished are bestowed with magic power and required to guard and protect villages and villagers from demoniac influences and thus they are honored as magical sacred effigies. | |
