SEKAA GONG WERDHA ARMA
THE PELIATAN MASTERS THE DANCE AND MUSIC TRADITION OF OLD PRESENTS




PENDET DANCE
It is a welcome dance. This dance was formally performed at the temple courtyard. The dancers were carrying holy water, flower and bowl of incense

INSTRUMENTAL “ KEBYAR SUSUN”
Created by Wayan Gandra in 1966. Wayan Gandra is a drummer in our group. Kebyar Susun means the orchestra is playing partly, Terompong, Gender, Ceng-ceng and at last it is playing instrument completely.




BARIS DANCE

It is warrior dance, with dynamic movements. Formally it was a ritual dance, named Baris Gede, perfomed at the temple courtyard during the temple festival.
 



LEGONG LASEM
There are some types Legong dances. The most popular is Legong Lasem. We have been preserving this dance since 1950.
It begin with Condong, she dances solo, then followed by two dancers, The Legong. This dance portrays the story of The King Lasem, who captivated Rangkisari. Lasem wanted to marry Rangkisari but Rangkisari refused, because she had been engaged with Prince Panji. Rangkisari’s brother, gathered an army to rescue his sister. On his way to battle Lasem was attacked by Garuda, a bad omen, and was then killed in battle.

INSTRUMENTAL “ RICKSHAW”
Created by wayan Gandra in 1964. The Creation of the song was inspired by the dynamic life of a Rickshaw rider in Java.




OLEG TAMBULILINGAN DANCE

It describes two bumble bees chasing one another in a flower garden. First comes a female dancer, followed by a male dancer, they make a circle formation. The dance was created by the late Mario in 1952
 



TARUNA JAYA DANCE

Created by the late Gde Manik a famous Choreographer from Sinagaraja. The dancer is a female, dressed in male style custom. The characteristic of Taruna jaya dance is distinctive dynamic movement.

COCKFIGHTING DANCE
Created by the late Mario, a very talented choreographer from Tabanan. His idea came after seeing the cockfighting. N this special occasion the cockfighting dance which has been forgotten long time a go is going to be presented.




KEBYAR TEROMPNG DANCE
It is a solo dance, usually by the male character. The dancer frequently beat the Terompong to produce sound match with melody of Gamelan.
